520 meter shot on a Bushbuck

I got to see the video of my longest ever shot on game today, it was well worth the wait and brought back some memories. It also reinforced to me why I spend so much time at the range practicing shooting from different positions and different ranges. Have a watch and enjoy.

For those that are interested in the gear that I used for this shot my rifle is a 1988 Howa Short Action fitted with a Maddco Barrel chambered in .243 win and fitted by Thomson Gunsmithing and Precision Rifles , my stock is a 20 year old Geoff Slee thumb hole, my scope is a 6.5-20x50 Vortex Viper with Mil dot reticle. I used 100grn Nozler Partition projectiles over Win760 powder in Winchester Brass and Winchester LR Primers. To answer any LR question I am not generally a long distance enthusiast but I do practice a lot at long range ( I burn a barrel a year on average), I prefer to take my shots from as close as I can when possible.
